The Medical Institute for Sexual Health adds these three points:
1. Premarital sexual abstinence is not a temporary contraceptive. It is a
disciplined lifestyle that serves a person well throughout life.
2. Premarital abstinence helps to improve the potential for healthy,
pleasurable sexual intimacy in future marriage.
3. When given appropriate support, encouragement and instruction, people who
have been sexually active in the past have the ability to choose abstinence and
remain abstinent until marriage.
